Abstract

Induction supports students’ transition into higher education alongside providing an introduction to their specific programme and place of study. Learners also require support at specific transition points, most notably between years of study where the academic level of learning outcomes increases, and more autonomous and independent learning is expected. Validation panels consider how interventions related to induction and transitions are systematically planned and implemented as part of programme design and delivery. Within the context of VASC panel membership this workshop aims to raise awareness of induction and transitions, and to increase the confidence of panel members when questioning proposing teams to help ensure interventions are systematically planned for and implemented as part of programme delivery.
