Abstract

According to Price et al (2012), studies have shown that assessment literacy improves students’ assessed performance especially in their desire to improve. However it is just as vital that staff as well as students are assessment literate, but just telling them about assessment is unlikely to be effective (Boud, 2009). This Keynote introduces opportunities to explore and develop staff assessment literacy by: • Enabling discussion of the problematic nature of assessment in Higher Education • Exploring and discussing best practice in the management of assessment • Enabling staff to analyse and evaluate their own practice This Keynote presentation has been designed to support delegates in their roles in developing of assessment literacy and to support them in addressing the current difficulties encountered with the assessment elements of the NSS
