Abstract

This is a nurse led project which aims to initiate a change in culture within a children’s hospital and raise the profile of the sexual and relationship needs of young people. Our team has completed data collection (questionnaires to young people, parents and focus groups with healthcare professionals) which demonstrates that there is a need for professionals to be better equipped to discuss sexual and relationship issues with young people who access an acute children’s hospital. These findings led to the creation of an e-learning resource with interactive video-clips for child health professionals working within an acute children’s hospital to help them develop their skills
