Abstract

This report evaluates the preparedness of 'crisis support' teams providing disaster related support to survivors and bereaved in the immediate aftermath of major incidents. Based on research conducted at the invitation of Lancashire County Council Emergency Planning Department it reviews the development of crisis support in the County, crisis support in action, and intra and inter organisational issues arising. It concludes with a brief discussion of factors in crisis preparedness, the experience of crisis response and the 'Lancashire model'.
