Abstract

Incontinence: A manual for nursing practice. This very practical handbook is the result of a research project designed to evaluate clinical nursing developments in continence care. IT examines the caused of incontinence and the various methods of assessment, as well as exploring methods of promoting continence, including the use of drugs and re-education programmes. The authors discuss the use of a wide range of aids and appliances and give practical advice on educatrion and how best to involve the patient and carer. Using the very latest in research findings, Brenda Roe, Visiting Fellow, and Kate Williams, Research and Development Officer, both at the National Institute for Nursing, Oxford, have made extensive recommendations for clinical practice.
