Abstract

This chapter argues for an holistic approach to the study of physical geography which incorporates a process-based approach which actively seeks to integrate the wider range of influences on the formation of landscapes. Changing approaches to physical geography are considered in relation to use in the school classroom. The final sections of the chapter look at such approaches with specific focuses on fluvial geomorphology, coastal landscapes and geohazards.
