Drawn by their shared fascination with light and the body, video artist June Gersten Roberts and dance artist Michelle Man explore visual and choreographic responses to the palpable presence of dappled light. For the past two years the artists have been gathering physical, digital and danced material in wooded locations in Lancashire and Yorkshire. Drawing together their experiences of dappled light, the artists create moving video and live dance performance installations. Each installation for the Dappled Light Project is designed specially for the location of the performance, offering intimate site responsive performance installations that engage the audience with the immediacy of a dappled light experience. The Dappled Light Project offers a place to dwell, absorb and observe, bringing performers and audience members closer to memories and sensations of dappled light. Music for these performances has been specifically composed by Howard Haigh, providing a shimmering sound scape of fluttering guitars and ukulele. The Dappled Light Project is available for exhibition and performance. Up coming dates include TATE, Liverpool on 23rd February 2017.
