Abstract

This paper reports the findings of a survey that aimed to identify how annual influenza campaign uptake rates amongst frontline acute hospital staff can be improved. A questionnaire was distributed to frontline staff employed at the hospital. A response rate of over 38% (n=376) was achieved. Qualified nurses were most likely to respond and doctors least likely. Other findings are in line with those of similar studies and relate to such things as misconceptions about influenza vaccination and the inconvenience of vaccination sessions. Several ideas were generated about how to improve future campaigns not least adopting flexible ‘whenever’ ‘wherever’ approaches.
