Abstract

The article explains how children's friendships and peer relationships are developed. It stresses the importance of objects play in promoting and sustaining children's relationship. The three major stages in the development of children's friendship are discussed, namely, egocentric, sociocentric and emphatic. As the child age, his or her social network includes proportionately more peers and there is more daily contact with their peers.
